Jordans
Cereals has become a household name by supplying leading supermarket chains with
its range of cereals and cereal bars. The company runs three sites in Bedfordshire
employing more than 360 people.
It’s a competitive industry and random spot checks are also carried out by
the supermarket giants. Jordans felt it was crucial to have the right security
measures in place, says Projects Manager Maurice Hurn.
What were your security needs?
We have a lot of staff working at different sites and it’s extremely important to us to know that only authorised personnel are entering our production facilities. We don’t want people around who shouldn’t be there!
When we contacted Ace Fire and Security we already had some CCTV in place and access control at just one of our sites but we wanted to extend this.
Why did you choose Ace?
We weren’t happy with our previous supplier. We could be waiting up to three days to get a response from them! We felt that was unacceptable; we wanted a more reliable supplier that could provide a first class job. Staff from Ace thoroughly explained the products and took us on a site visit to one of their other customers to view a similar security system in action. We were very impressed and took out a contract with them.
What work has been carried out?
Ace
provided us with an entirely new access control system at one of our factories.
This was then linked to our other site where the system was upgraded so that movements
of staff on both plants could be monitored from just one site. We have also had
car park barriers installed which the access control system has been linked to.
The new access control system is very sophisticated and allows us to prevent certain
people from entering specific sections such as the production area. The system
works well.
What’s your overall view of Ace Fire and Security and would you recommend them?
From our point of view we can’t really fault them at all. You always get help
from them quickly, their reaction times are superb and they are good on price.
The Ace head office is also in close proximity to Jordans so it is good to be
dealing with a local company who are always there when you need them. We get on
very well with the boss Kevin, he runs a good business, and yes, I would recommend
them.
