Improving security and enhancing staff safety and wellbeing amid Covid-19 in a 105,000 sq ft office space for 500 staff
The Head Office reception area is an impressive atrium space with an island desk in the middle. The client was concerned that people could pass through the reception area to the office doors undetected. We discussed installing turnstiles (sometimes called 'speedlanes' with integrated access control) to enhance security without reducing the aesthetics of the reception area. This project was already underway when the pandemic hit and the client approached us to discuss installing additional covid-safe measures so they could bring their staff back to the office.
To enhance security in the reception area, we took the client to visit the showrooms of our turnstiles partner IDL (Integrated Design Limited) so they could view the different styles and options. Our Account Manager at Ace consulted with the client and IDL to decide on a solution that would work best for their needs. An Installations Manager and two engineers from Ace installed the turnstiles and added the access control system used throughout the rest of the office.
To make the office covid-safe, we added thermal imaging cameras to the turnstiles. The cameras trigger an alarm when anyone with a temperature attempts to enter the building. To further enhance the environment we installed automatic door openers (working with our partner Reactive Doors) throughout the building and touchless exit buttons to reduce the risk of virus transmission.
The Account Manager was involved at all stages of the project, from initial discussions through to installation and handover, to ensure everything ran smoothly.
